 This is a CPD session specifically for DEAs\nFacilitated by Proficiency Ch
 airman Ian Sturt\, there will be an opportunity to ask about any of the co
 nventions you are not clear on.\nIan has been involved with the convention
 s groups since early 2011 and has been the primary author of\, or contribu
 ted to develoment of\, a significant proportion of the conventions. There 
 are few people in the industry with a better understanding of why they are
  written the way they are.\nThe session will consist of:\n\nA summary of t
 he conventions process\nWhat the conventions group can and cannot do\nAnsw
 ers to questions that have been submitted ahead of the session\nAnswers to
  questions from attendees at the session\nIf time permits\, Ian will then 
 talk through some of the conventions that assessors seem to be most prone 
 to getting wrong.\n\nTo get the most out of this session\, please think ab
 out which conventions you don't really understand. Email your list of thos
 e conventions and an indication of what you are unsure of to events@profic
 iency.services with 'Domestic Conventions Q&A'  in the subject line.\nAny 
 conventions we cannot satisfactorily explain will be identified and referr
 ed to the conventions group for clarification.\nThis event is FREE for Pro
 ficiency members. It is open to non-members at a cost of £20. (It makes mo
 re sense to join and get at least 12 sessions like this for free in the ye
 ar).\nAttendance certificates will be added to the member's  CPD record. N
 on-members will be provided with an attendance certificate to enable them 
 to claim at least an hour of relevant CPD. \nNOT A MEMBER? Join for just £

 .services)\nHOW IT WORKS - Please read carefully\nYou will be sent joining
  instructions and/or the relevant link ahead of the meeting. This is typic
 ally sent out about 1 day ahead of the event. For online events we general
 ly use Zoom.\nAround 24 hours ahead of the event you will receive a link t
 o register for the event. You can do this any time from then until just be
 fore the meeting starts. Once you have registered you will receive the act
 ual meeting link. Please ensure you register using your correct full name.
  This ensures you will get the right name on your CPD certificate (if appl
 icable)\,\n(If there is less than 24 hours to go\, please check your junk 
 / spam folder before contacting us to say you haven't received the link. I
 t will probably be there. If it is not then do contact events@proficiency.

 o issue you with a CPD certificate. If you know in advance that you will n
 ot have video capability\, please email events@proficiency.services and we
  will agree an alternative way in which the organisers can verify you were
  actually present (and hopefully paying attention) for the entire session.
 \nIf you need to briefly deal with something like an urgent phone call dur
 ing the session\, please turn your video off whilst you do so to avoid a d
 istraction to other attendees. Video off for short periods of absence will
  not affect eligibility for CPD certificates. Prolonged periods of absence
  or where video is off so you could be absent\, will prevent us being able
  to issue a CPD certificate. This verification of your presence is essenti
 al for us to ensure that the value of Proficiency CPD certificates is main
 tained so they can be accepted by accreditation schemes. \n(There are no r
 efunds where CPD certificates cannot be issued due to only partial attenda
