Energy Assessor Alliance growing stronger

With effect from 28th March 2022, the Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA) will also be providing support and services for domestic energy assessors as part of their new Technical Membership. This is a welcome extension to their range as they have established themselves as a well respected organisation in the residential property sector.

Their voice added to ours can only be a good thing for the industry and we look forward to working with the RPSA on our common objectives. As a first step towards this, we are pleased to welcome them into the Energy Assessor Alliance where the RPSA will join Proficiency and the Midlands Energy Professionals (MEP). Collectively we seek to support and promote energy assessors and the essential work that we do.

The two elements of domestic energy assessments and surveys of residential properties were closely linked when many of us originally joined the industry through the Home Inspector route. It is great to see the RPSA bringing them back together in this way and we look forward to working alongside them as they do.

There will be reasons why any one of the three organisations may be the first choice for a particular assessor. However, we strongly believe that all assessors would benefit from being a member of at least one, and potentially more than one. Also, that by us working collaboratively, all assessors will benefit from the increased support and representation that these three organisations bring to our industry.

As the need to reduce energy waste and carbon emissions becomes even more pressing, the role of the EPC and retrofit assessments becomes ever more crucial. As the practitioners delivering these our voice needs to be heard loud and clear by the policy makers and we have never been better placed to make that happen. Despite the importance of what we do, we have always been under-represented. Now you can help make that change.

If you are not already a member of Proficiency, the RPSA or the MEP then now is the time for you choose the right one for you and get involved. In addition to making the voice of energy assessors louder, you will be getting access to valuable support, CPD and a range of other benefits.
