This is a Workshop Session for Non-Domestic Energy Assessors.

In support of a request from the BRE, we are holding a non-domestic recommendations workshop. Proficiency members are invited to contribute towards a review which will develop the recommendations to be used in future releases of SBEM.

The workshop will be led by Ian Sturt, Chairman of Proficiency who has contributed to a number of developments to SBEM in the past, including the improved range of construction types added to the current SBEM version. It will be a highly interactive session where ideas and debate will be actively encouraged.

Target Audience

This will be a 2 hour session, highly relevant to the non-domestic strand. It is unlikely to be relevant to anyone other than non-domestic assessors and can only be booked by Proficiency members. There will be no cost to Proficiency members attending and it will qualify for a 2 hour CPD certificate.

Non-Domestic EPC Recommendations

  • Which recommendations are inappropriate and should be removed? (Why?)
  • Which recommendations are appropriate but should be reworded to be more relevant? (What should they say?)
  • What additional recommendations should be generated by the software? (What should trigger them?)
  • How could the process of selecting recomendations be improved?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Learning Outcomes

Apart from the obvious opportunity to contribute to future improvement of the software we use, and to increase the value of EPC Recommendation Reports to your clients....

You will get a better understanding of

  • Why the software currently triggers recomendations
  • When it may be better to replace one with something more appropriately worded
  • The sort of user defined recommendations others are adding to their Recommendation Reports

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pre / Post Workshop Actions

Attendees are encouraged to make use of the related thread in the non-domestic section of the Proficiency forum to share thoughts on the recommendations, before and after the workshop. A full list of the current  recommendations built into SBEM will be made available on this thread ahead of the workshop so you will not need to compile your own.

Most of you probably have a set of additional recommendations you copy and paste into the user defined recommendations on a regular basis. Please think about which of those could be suitable to be built into SBEM as software generated or user selectable standard recommendations.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This event is open to all Proficiency members as part of your membership benefits at either Standard or Premium membership level. However, you are encouraged not to attend unless you are a practicing non-domestic energy assessor. It will be a very strand specific CPD and that will be reflected in the 2 hour CPD certificate issued.

Attendance certificates will be added to the Proficiency member's CPD record.

Non members?

To be involved in this you will need to demonstrate you are committed to actively contributing to improvement of our industry sector. You will also need access to the Proficiency forum. The only way to do both is to become a Proficiency member yourself.

If you are willing to do that, you will be more than welcome to join this session and contribute your thoughts and ideas. Details of membership and the link to join are at Membership Benefits (proficiency.services). If you already know you want to join and which level is right for you, head straight for the application form at Apply here

HOW IT WORKS - Please read carefully

You will be sent joining instructions and/or the relevant link ahead of the workshop. This is typically sent out about 1 day ahead of the event. For online events we generally use Zoom.

Around 24 hours ahead of the event you will receive a link to register for the event. You can do this any time from then until just before the meeting starts. Once you have registered you will receive the actual meeting link. Please ensure you register using your correct full name. This ensures you will get the right name on your CPD certificate (if applicable),

Please also ensure you have tested your set up and both your audio and video are working. Due to the interactive discussion nature of this workshop, it is essential that you have BOTH audio and VIDEO working for this session.
