DEC Assessors who were forced to reissue DECs earlier this year because DLUHC (now MHCLG) issued a faulty March CIP file (incorrect weather data) in April can now claim compensation for their time.
Proficiency challenged the right of DLUHC (now MHCLG) to make DEC Assessors re-lodge DECs for free when the mistake was theirs. We said DEC Assessors needed paying and because of our intervention, now they will be. It has taken longer than it should have, and we have been working with the Property Energy Professionals Association (PEPA) to make sure it happened.
If you are a DEC Assessor and you were affected by this, your scheme should have notified you by now. Essentially you need to send your details and a list of the DECs replaced to claim the compensation you are eligible for. This is understood to be £10 for each DEC you had to relodge.
To make the claim, send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject line “DEC CIP File Compensation”. You need to provide the following information…
Your name
Your assessor ID
The RRN of the cancelled DEC
The RRN of the replacement DEC
The DEC details should be easy enough to provide. It should be the same list as you sent your scheme when you had to confirm which ones you had done so you would not be charged the re-lodgement cost.
Claims need to be submitted by 10th January 2025 so act now so you don’t miss out. (The above email address cannot be used for any other purpose.
