Proficiency has submitted a response to the Reforms to the Energy Performance of Buildings regime consultation.
This consultation was seeking views on the reform of the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB) framework. Scope scope included:
- clarifying and consolidating regulations
- improving the applicability, quality, and data usage,
- updating EPC metrics
- refining requirements for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
- improving data management protocols
- strengthening quality control
- revising air conditioning inspection reports (ACIRs)
The bodies responsible for the consultation were the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
We welcome the consultation as it addresses issues that have been overlooked for far too long. There are gaps in the legislation and limitations with the software that have been holding back the ability of EPCs and DECs to fully deliver as effective drives for change.
Our hope is that the consultation will result in real progress towards sharpening these tools that are needed to shape the journey to net zero.
