The word "Proficiency" has its own meaning as possessing great skill, ability, and experience. It is also a combination of the word "Professional" and the word "Efficiency".  That is who we are; the Professional Body for Professionals in Efficiency.

Proficiency is the trade organisation (Professional Body) that represents energy assessors and associated professionals in the United Kingdom. Its primary purpose is to give assistance and a single voice for energy assessors, retrofit assessors and coordinators, and energy efficiency specialists. These are professionals critical to effective delivery of the UK's sustainability efforts.

As a Professional Body, Proficiency provides training and continuing professional development (CPD), support and networking opportunities, and web marketing for its members. Those members conduct assessments such as Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), Display Energy Certificates (DECs), air conditioning inspections, and more.

Members can also join Proficiency's Development Group which allows them to participate in actively shape industry standards and best practices.

Proficiency is also an associate member of the Property Energy Professionals Association (PEPA). They work collaboratively to raise industry standards and provide energy assessors a more powerful collective voice in legislative talks and national forums.

Proficiency ensures that assessors have the tools and recognition necessary to make a substantial impact on property energy efficiency by developing a support system and supporting professional growth.
